U12 Storm Heading to
Tennessee!
It’s very exciting and the chance of a lifetime for
us. The Series will be played from July 19 – 26, 2009.
We are the only team in all of New England who will compete against
nearly sixty really good teams from around the United States!
We have a very short time to get everything
together and we all need to gather sponsors and support to help us get
there. Anything you could do to help would be appreciated. We
will thank you on our website and in the news papers. We plan to get a
team picture to all our sponsors too!
These are hard times to ask for favors but I need
one. Could you please help us with a check payable to The
North Shore Storm for $50 or $100 or anything you can to help us get
there?
Send donations to

June 20th 2009 – Lots
of Storm action over fathers day weekend.
The
U18A, U14, U13 and U12s all played this weekend in very challenging
weather conditions. The 18s had a great Saturday and finished with a #2
seed. The 14s split there games on Saturday and had the 5th seed while
the 13s won one and tied one and went into Sunday as a 2 seed and the 12s
2-0 Saturday landed them the 3 seed. More details to follw!
June
14st 2009 – U18s place 2nd in ASA National Qualifier!
The
U18A North Shore Storm Jr. Olympic softball team began their 2009 season
with a bang! The ladies finished 2nd
in the just completed ASA National Qualifier tournament held in
Gloucester, MA. The placement
grants an invitation to the team to attend the National’s Tournament, to
be held in Las Vegas, NV. in July!
To get
to the finals, the Storm won 2 Saturday games, over the Charlton Wildfire
& the Mass Pressure. Sunday
began with the ladies playing in the Winner’s bracket final against the
eventual tourney champion, Saratoga Thunder of NY. The Thunder broke open a tied game in
the 5th inning, leading to a victory. Next, the Storm ladies again played the
Mass. Pressure. The Pressure lead
early, but the Storm battled back.
The game ended up tied and went into the International Tie-Breaker
situation. The Pressure struck
first with 1 run. The Storm then
scraped up 2 runs for the victory, with the winning run scoring on a
perfectly executed suicide-squeeze play between Samantha Barker (Lynn)
and Cara Crowley (Lynn). This set up a showdown in the finals against the
Thunder. The Thunder jumped out to
an early lead. The Storm then
“stormed” back for to go up, before finally dropping a heartbreaker in the
bottom of the 7th inning.
Head Coach John Gambale
said, “This was a fantastic start to our summer. We’ve had few opportunities for full
team practices, so this was looked at as a working-weekend for the
girls. Well, they improved every
game!
May 31st 2009 – U10s
finish 3rd overall! The Storm U10s are in action for the first time in 2009 and
on Saturday showed they will be a force this season by securing a #2 seed
over all! The first game was their only loss to a strong S Maine Flames
7-5, after that they beat the NE Firebirds 11-8 and then beat an
undefeated Westford Wave team 1-0. They played Sunday at 10 am in the
championship round and faced the Waves again, this time the Wav3es came
out on top 14-7 however the team and coaches felt the score was not
indicative of how close the teams are and they will see each other again.

May 24th 2009 – U12s
Win again, U13s finish 3rd and 14s get their feet wet.
The Storm had 3 teams compete
this weekend and competed well. The 12s continue to roll going 4-1
overall and winning their 2nd consecutive championship behind solid
pitching, steady defense and aggressive base running. The u13s had a
great Sunday showing beating the Hudson Heat in a game that went into
International tie braking format, then playing the Firecracker Fury
tough in the semi finals. Finally the U14s had their first tourney games
as a team and had a tough draw but hung tough Saturday and improved every
game.

May 3rd 2009
– U12 May Madness Champions!
The u12 Storm team started
the season off on the right foot this weekend with a 4-0-1 record and a
tournament championship in Dracut
MA. The team was put
together this season after the graduating u12 from 2008 moved up together
competing at u14. Not bad for their first games together!

May 3rd 2009
– U14
The u13 Storm played in their
first U14 tournament this weekend showing a strong effort on Saturday
behind Courtney, Becky and Kendall’s pitching. Saturday ended with the
team seeding 3rd of 8 teams. Despite the youth of the team
they were very successful Saturday while plying shorthanded most of the
day.
On Sunday the u13s had a
rematch with the Hudson Heat and just missed a semi final birth with the
Mass Drifters who they last played in the semi finals in the teams first
tourney last year as u12s. The tournament goal was to get the young teams
feet wet and prep for the season, they worked out a few things and have a
bright season ahead with hard work and commitment.
